News today:
The alleged artifacts known as the "crystal skulls" of supposedly Aztec origin which were housed in the Smithsonian Institute, The British Museum and the Quai Branly Museum in Paris are not ancient MesoAmerican artifacts as once proclaimed. Recent electron microscope imaging and testing which included comparisions of true artifacts from that era proves them to be fake. They have been proven to be cut, honed and polished with the aid of modern tools of the industrial age and not crafted by pre-columbian civilization.
The first blow was actually dealt on April 18, 2008 at the Branly Museum and today the same "skullduggery" reverberated in the U.S. and British museums respectively. The study appears in the Journal of Archeological Science .
Therefore the legend or myth of the 12 skulls and the sacred 13th skull which when united would bring about a power that would prevent trajedy on 12-21-2012. Also their alleged healing and spiritual powers have come to an abrupt end.
One must always be careful in latching onto or believing in something as being the "real McCoy" without further investigation from oneself or at least assembling other investigative bodies of work to seek the conclusion of a thing. This is the information age and research becomes quite simple...time consuming yes, but so rewarding in the long run. This applies to written material as well. Just because it is there ... does not necessarily make it so! If more than one authority concurs upon a subject there is usually evidence to support it's validity. Be wise and never walk down a pathway in ignorance even if one says that yonder is the way... for traps are often set by the minds of men.
